José María Torres Caicedo, Colombian lawyer and diplomat, promoter of Latin American identity and its literature. Since 1851 he lived in ParisJosé María Torres Caicedo working as ambassador of Colombia, El Salvador and other American republics in Europe. In 1878 he participated in the creation of ALAI and he was its president from 1880 to 1885. He was responsible for the first diplomatic communications that led to the Berne Convention.
